ARSENAL'S worst ever start to a Premier League season continued with defeat at rain drenched Blackburn.
Despite dominating the first half, the Gunners capitulated in the second period to lose 4-3 at Ewood Park.
A brace from Yakubu and two own goals from Alex Song and Laurent Koscielny condemned the visitors to another loss.
Arsenal had taken the lead through Gervinho's 10th-minute strike but Yakubu drew the hosts level on 25 minutes.
Mikel Arteta then put the visitors back in front with a fine effort 11 minutes before the break.
But Rovers hit back through Song's own goal on 50 minutes before Yakubu hit his second nine minutes later.
Koscielny then put through his own net to make it 4-2 before substitute Marouane Chamakh hit the Gunners' third.
The defeat means Arsene Wenger's side have now conceded a whopping 14 goals in their opening five league matches, collecting just four points.
Only two sides in Premier League history have conceded more goals over the same number of games – Southampton in the 1998/99 campaign and Derby in the 2007/08 term.
The Saints finished fourth from bottom in 1999 on 41 points – five points clear of the relegation zone.
But Derby fared a lot worse, ending up rock bottom on a record low of 11 points with just one victory in 38 games and a massive 89 goals conceded
